Back online

It has been more than a year since my last post. A lot has happened and I've changed jobs 2 times since that. I finally got to be where I wanted and let's hope it will stay that way.

Apart from work, I've started taking up golf. Despite it's non-aggressive nature, it's quite addictive. The more you hit the course, the more you feel like going. It's the satisfaction you get when you see the ball glides slowly towards the green and slides into the hole. Everybody fancies themselves to be the next Tiger Woods, and they only put a halt to that thought when they realised that golf is more than simply hitting the ball and making it go high and straight.

I guess from now onwards I'll be writing a bit more from time to time. There are things that I'd like to write but sometimes it just goes past me. But this is a good start as any. See you all soon.

Old blogger account revived

My lack of excitement at work prompted me to do some "minor" projects on my own. A few hours later (after an unceremoniously half-an-hour late entrance), I found myself reviving my old blogger account. The amazing thing is that all of my previous years post (dating way back to 2003) is still here. Attaboy blogger. I'll have to manually merge my posts from Kifli.net (which is on Joomla) and blogger. But since I have truckloads of free time, I reckon I'll be able to do it before the day is out.

New discovery

There's an article on Utusan Malaysia today about 2 Tunku Kursiah College (TKC) girls finding the cure for peptic ulcer. Amazing isn't it. I wonder when would be the next time a MCKK boy would find the solution to anti-gravity or perhaps time travelling.

The worse phishing site ever

I got an IM from a friend promoting a link. I don't think he intended on passing this link purposely on YM, therefore I'd give him the benefit of the doubt that his YM might contain some self-sending-IM virus.

Anyway, the link that he sent me was the most obvious phishing site ever. Not only is the site's URL is geocities (in which the phished content is your Yahoo user ID and password), it also has advertisements from geocities on the site.

Just in case they removed the site, I've taken a screenshot here:

I was laughing so hard. How can anybody fall for this? If you have to phish, try doing it properly. Bloody IT drop outs. And you were wondering why you couldn't get a job.

Monash's CCNA

I was walking around my faculty today and I saw this sign:

I can't help but to smile to myself. "What if I already have it?"

Anyway, I'm not sure if I have blogged about this before, but I'm going to mention it again. The fee to study CCNA as a short-course at Monash is AU$1650 per module (Monash separated the CCNA program into 4 modules). At the academy that I went (Trainpro) in Malaysia, I get to study for CCNA and MCSE both at RM7000 (~AU$2500). Bear in mind that MCSE has 7 units, and CCNA has only 1 unit.

Just look at the difference. RM7000 (or AU$2500) for a total of 8 units, against AU$1650 x 4 = AU$6600 for only 1 unit (CCNA).

Furthermore, at Trainpro, ex-students have the luxury of a refresher course within a 1 year periodAU of taking their couse. That means that if you ever forget anything after a few months of learning, or if you need clarification on certain topics from the instructors, you can simply go there and discuss it with them. That's definitely value for money.

Hall of Fame

My recent success in passing my CCNA has been listed in Trainpro's hall of fame. Below is the screenshot from the website.

I made 1 mistake in the exam, hence I got 974/1000. My other classmate, listed at number 158, got perfect marks at 1000. Sure is lucky.

CCNA

Finally, after much deliberation, I passed my CCNA exam. I took it this morning and managed to score 974/1000. I was extremely happy to the point of screaming in the exam lab.

Now that I'm CCNA, I might consider doing CCNP , but maybe after a few years (and before my CCNA expires). To add to the excitement, when I got home, my MCSE goodies arrived via UPS.

Back in Melbourne

After nearly 2 months of complete hiatus, I'm back to updating my blog. Well, I would have wrote something when I was at Jeddah, but the dial-up connection was unbelievably slow (single digit kbps!). It's madness.

Anyway, I just arrived in Melbourne on Saturday morning. There are loads of stuff to be settled, so I guess I'll be rather busy till class starts on the 28th. :)

Oh yes, by the way, there are 2 of my pictures in the MCKK Impressions book (a book to commemorate MCKK's 100 year celebration). Apparently, they took it from my website. It's a good thing they took it, because now I'll be forever remembered. :p

Back in Jeddah

Greetings. I arrived on the 15th December. It was merely out of luck that I got a flight ticket despite the upcoming Hajj seasons. Anyway, I'll be staying here till mid January, so, don't expect me to post frequently as the internet here is very slow. Yep, talk about a 28.8kbps connection.

Anyway, I started playing Rome: Total War yesterday, and it turned out to be a great game. :)
